Are you new to wearing hearing aids?

New hearing aids can take some time to get used to. Its clinical term is referred to as ‘acclimatisation’.

Some people acclimatise faster than others, it all depends on a number of factors. The most important one being that hearing aids need to spend more time on your ears than in their case!

How many hours are you hearing with your new hearing aids each day?

Each week you should be increasing how long you wear them. It is also good to wear them in different listening situations such as the car, TV, at the shops, while playing with the grand kids or a sport – golf, bowls, tennis etc and of course at the dinner table.

Keep a short diary of the things you are experiencing so that you can mention them at your follow up appointments, this helps us make adjustments that suit and support your hearing journey.

It’s an investment that will require time. It can often take months to get comfortable wearing your new hearing aids so it’s important to make them part of your everyday routine. How they sound, how they feel, even getting in the routine of putting them on every day takes practice.

With time, patience and experience you’ll come to understand all the benefits hearing aids can have on your life. Your friends and family will love you even more for it!

Remember, True Hearing staff and clinicians are here to support your transition.
